Commercialization Stories |
Technology Commercialization is matching identified technologies with an industry application and company that can successfully develop, manufacture and sell a respective product. Generally, WTN matches the technologies with industry. In effect, the technology is "pushed into the market". While this method of technology transfer can be successful, the actual rate of success is quite low. Many technologies languish because finding a match with customer needs requires a lot of effort and knowledge of industries and companies. The people with that knowledge do not typically work in technology transfer. Technology transfer is important for a lot of reasons. To the industry, it supports economic development. To the Air Force, it can satisfy needs for product performance and often generate a royalty stream to support future research efforts. |
